Una Stella Abrahamson, born Una Golding, studied art in England before meeting Roy Abrahamson, who she married before WW II. After moving to Canada in 1946, she studied painting in Ottawa before working as an economist and domestic historian for the Chatelaine Magazine test kitchens during the 1960s. She authored several books: "God Bless Our Home: Domestic Life in Nineteenth Century Canada" noted for its exploration of Canadian social history, "The Canadian Guide to Home Entertaining" and "Crafts Canada: The Useful Arts". Throughout her life she collected books on cookery, and at the time of her death, she had a collection of over 3000 books which is now available at the University of Guelph in the Rare Book Room. It is named the "Una Abrahamson Canadian Cookery Collection."
