Notice biographique
After an early career as an athlete winning a medal at the 1936 Olympics in Berlin, Meagher became a school teacher, and in 1949 began taking classes at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. She studied under Ruth Wainwright and Bruce Hunter at the Nova Scotia College of Art in Halifax; later she spent summers in Toronto at the Danforth Technical School under D. Rosser and the Doon School of Fine Art under J. Hall and L.A.C. Panton. In 1954 and 1957, she took summer art courses studying under Hans Hoffman in Provincetown in 1954 and 1957. She exhibited at the Maritime Art Association, Montreal Spring Show, and in other Canadian cities. A member of the Nova Scotia Society of Artists, she had represented in the Dalhousie University Art Gallery where had won several prizes for her work. She is also noted for a collection of rubbings of Irish crosses which she donated to Irish Studies, Saint Mary's University.
