- Christina Perks left her home near Warsaw around 1939. Graduating from McGill University with a B.Arch. in 1957, Perks worked as a public service architect for most of her career. Her early experience included three years of private practice in Bermuda (1958-1961). In Montreal, while employed by George F. Eber, she was design architect for the Sermons for Science Pavilion and the Alcan Aquarium, both at Expo ’67. At Public Works Canada in Ottawa, Perks served as project architect (1966-1970) then became head of the Office Planning Section, which she established. Following a few years in private practice in Calgary (1972-1975) where she worked on the development and planning of large commercial projects, Perks's expertise was again required in Ottawa. She played integral roles with the Department of External Affairs Canada, beginning as Director Facilities Development and culminating as Embassy Project Deputy Director and Attaché. Perks applied her management and organizational skills to great effect in overseeing various negotiations, management, and design of Canadian embassies in cities which included Tokyo, London, Beijing, Paris, Mexico City, Lagos, Riyadh, Washington, Moscow, and Belgrade. She partnered with Sheila Penny in 1992 to form Canadian Architects, Perks+Penny. (I. Puchalski)
