- Notice biographique
- Mary R. McKie (active 1840-1862) was an amateur artist who taught and worked in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She studied with Maria Morris and showed her work at the Nova Scotia Industrial Exhibition in 1854 and the International Exhibition of 1862. Her drawings and watercolors are found in various albums in the National Library and Archives of Canada. Most of her works represent Mi'kmaq peoples; however, she also worked in landscapes. A few watercolour portraits of Mi'kmaq and black subjects were sold to Lady Falkland and included in her album while her husband was Lieutenant-Governor of Nova Scotia from 1840-46. In 1861 McKie moved to England.
