- Notice biographique
- Phyllis Campbell Abbott was the granddaughter of first Canadian-born Prime Minister Sir John Abbott (1891-92). She was likely the sister or cousin of Canadian artist Isabella Mary Abbott, though the connection is not confirmed. John Bethune Abbott, son of the Prime Minister and possibly Phyllis's father or uncle, was himself a landscape painter and the director of the Art Association of Montreal (1900-1919). She exhibited at the Spring Exhibition of the Royal Canadian Academy in 1924 and at the Eaton Galleries in 1930. According to her nephew, John Abbott, she was a long time volunteer with the Victorian Order of Nurses, an avid naturalist and an athlete in her younger years. As a young woman, her fiancé was killed in a car accident just before her wedding. There is no record of a subsequent marriage.
