Notice biographique
Bisson studied at the École des beaux-arts de Montréal from 1942-1947, as well as the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts School of Art and Design from 1954-1956. In 1961, she and Yves Trudeau founded the Association des Sculpteurs du Québec; she also co-founded the stone sculpture school at the Saidye Bronfman Centre, Montreal, where she taught from 1963-1971. Additionally, she gave courses at the École des beaux-arts de Montréal and the Université du Québec à Montréal. In 1970 she moved to Edmunston, New Brunswick where she taught at the Collège Saint-Louis-Maillet. Along with Françoise Sullivan, Bisson is considered one of the pioneers of new sculpture in Quebec for their work in the early 1960s. In 1967, she produced her first "architectome," a type of model building for a utopian city. Bisson was awarded the Miller-Brittain Prize for her contribution to the development of the visual arts in New Brunswick. Her work is held in numerous museum collections as well as the Montreal public art collection.
