From 1886 to 1891 she lived in Montreal where she studied under Otto Reinhold Jacobi, member of the Ontario Society of Artists and president of the Royal Academy of Arts from 1890-1893. A painter in oils and watercolours, Cummins’ work was shown in 1886 at the Dominion Exhibition, Sherbrooke. Her work entitled "Children at Play" was shown at the Montreal Art Association in 1891. From 1891 until her death in 1893, Cummins traveled to Paris, Rome, London and Munich.
