- First Nations artist Celia Sunday (also known as Cecilia Cree) was recognized for her basket weaving and textile work. Born in St. Regis, Quebec (some sources state Akwesasne Mohawk Reserve in Ontario) to Dominic and Christie Cree Cook, Sunday attended a convent in Hogansburg. In 1933, she married Joseph B. Sunday; she and her husband created many traditional Mohawk baskets together until he passed away in 1986. The artist herself passed away peacefully in her home in Chenail.
