- Leather moved to Vancouver Island c.1889 where she became involved in the art milieu. In addition to painting, she was noted for her skills and teaching in the art of china repair. She continued painting into her nineties, focusing on scenes of the Cowichan area of Vancouver Island which she illustrated on Christmas post cards. She showed her works in the annual exhibitions of the Island Arts and Crafts Society (Victoria) participating from 1914 – 1941. She also exhibited at the Vancouver Exhibition (Pacific National Exhibition) in 1926. A few of her watercolours are held at the Royal B.C. Museum.
