- Elizabeth Dimock (nee Grimmer) attended the Pratt Institute in New York to study painting. She abandoned her art studies to enrol in a nursing course in order to enlist in the military during World War Two. In 1940, after graduating, she was stationed in Africa and later England. At the end of the war she attended the Sorbonne to study art before returning to Canada where she lived in Winnipeg and attended the University of Manitoba, graduating with a B.F.A. in 1979. She worked in watercolour as well as abstract printmaking and travelled to Japan to participate in summer print workshops. She was actively involved in the art community in Winnipeg as the chair of the Manitoba Society of Artists. In addition to showing her work in a number of solo and group exhibitions in the 1980s and 90s, she received a commission to paint the Stations of the Cross for a church in 1983. Dimock exhibited for over forty years in galleries as well as museums, including the Winnipeg Art Gallery, National Gallery of Canada, the New Brunswick Museum, and the Confederation Centre, Prince Edward Island. Internationally she exhibited in New York, Chicago and Mexico. Her watercolours won a number of awards in the 1960s.
