Who we are:
The Canadian Women Artists History Initiative is a collaborative endeavour that brings resources and researchers together to enhance scholarship on historical women artists in Canada. We welcome scholars from across the country to join our activities or donate research materials.
What we do:
Based in the Department of Art History at Concordia University in Montreal, we foster and circulate research into women's contributions to the cultural and material history of Canada. Our focus is on the period prior to 1967. Our mandate is twofold:
• To promote research on a wide range of historical Canadian women artists, through conferences, workshops, research, and publications.
• To support this research through a Documentation Centre open to the public and the development of online resources. These include an Artist Database and an Exhibition Reviews Database.
