- Eileen Hazell came to Canada in 1928 where she studied at the Central Technical School in Toronto. Hazell was a sculptor and potter who is known for her works in ceramic, which include bird and animal figures, free form pieces and pottery. In 1958 she was one of a handful of artists featured in the Film "Craftsmen of Canada" produced by the British American Oil Company. Her works have garnered a number of awards which include the Canadian Design Award and the Contemporary Design Award, both form the Canadian Handicraft Guild, as well as the Diploma and Honneur at the Exposition de La Céramique Contemporaine, France, 1962. Throughout her career she exhibited nationally with the Canadian Handicrafts Guild, the Ontario Society of Artists, Expo 67, and internationally at Ostend, Prague, Florence, Syracuse, Washington, Australia, New Zealand, Geneva and Turkey.
