- Thought to be the first woman to practice photography professionally in Eastern Quebec, Dumont opened a commercial studio in her home town of Saint-Alexandre de Kamouraska in 1925. She learned photography from her brother, Abbé Napoléon Dumont, and later studied with a professional photographer from nearby Rivière-du-Loup, Ulric Lavoie. In her commercial practice Dumont took many portraits of people in and around Saint-Alexandre de Kamouraska, but she was also interested in photographing the daily life and landscape of the Kamouraska region of Quebec. Dumont was forced to close her studio in 1960 due to illness, but before her death she donated approximately 10,000 negatives to the Musée du Bas-Saint-Laurent. The Musée has held several exhibits of Dumont's work since her death.
