Biography synopsis
In 1916 Georgianna Pinneo received a Bachelor's of Arts from Acadia University, and in 1921 she studied at the Nova Scotia College of Art with Elizabeth Nutt. She also studied independently with Aleksandre Bercovitch from 1940 to 1942 in Montreal and with Stanley Woodward and Lester Stevens in Rockport, Massachusetts. In Montreal she taught high school (1939-1960) and also taught with Arthur Lismer at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts (1940-1944), and gave evening classes at Sir George Williams University (1940-1945). She contributed to Canadian Art magazine during the 1940's and 50's. Pinneo was known for her watercolor landscapes and still lifes. She exhibited with the Royal Canadian Academy and the Art Association of Montreal, and her works can now be found in the collection of the Art Gallery of Windsor.
