- Françoise Desrochers-Drolet (Mrs. Jean-Paul Drolet) was a pioneer of enamel painting. After obtaining her diploma from l'École des beaux-arts de Québec in 1942, she worked in ceramics as well as fashion illustration. In 1948, she went to France and Italy where she visited artists centres in order to perfect her knowledge of ceramics and enamaling. On her return to Quebec, she continued with enamel work at l'École des beaux-arts de Québec (1949) and set up her own workshop. In 1951, la Centrale d'artisanat (Montréal) held a solo exhibition of over one hundred pieces of her enamel works. Throughout her career, Françoise Desrochers-Drolet participated in various exhibitions in Montréal, Toronto and New York. In 1954, she received the first prize in the Art competition for the province of Québec (Decorative Arts section). She is recognized for her large enamel dishes which included floral and animal motifs. Her work is held in the collections of the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, the Musée des Maîtres et artisans du Québec (Montréal) and the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec.
