Biography synopsis
Madeleine Dansereau (Maranda-Dansereau) was the first professional female jeweler in Quebec. She studied in the workshop of the Swiss jewelry maker Philippe Vauthier in Montreal from 1959 to 1965. In 1973, along with Armand Brochard, she founded the first "École de joaillerie et de métaux d'Art" in Montreal. After having participated in numerous craft exhibitions in Quebec and Ontario, the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts held a solo exhibition of her work in June 1996. Her work is held in the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts as well as the Canadian Museum of History in Hull.
