Also known as Annie White Greive, the artist was born in Leith, Scotland in 1867. She studied art at the Edinburgh School of Art with Miss Wone. Pringle immigrated to Canada in 1889 with her soon-to-be husband James B. Pringle. She studied in Montreal at the Monument National with Alfred Laliberté for modeling/sculpture, with Edmond Dyonnet and John Johnson for life classes in painting and later with William Brymner at the Montreal Art Gallery. At the Women's Art Studio Pringle studied with Adam Sherriff Scott, Lilias T. Newton, Randolph Newton and G. Horne Russell. Portraits and landscapes in oil were Pringle's better known subjects. She was a member of the Women's Art Society of Montreal with whom she showed work, and she exhibited with the Art Association of Montreal in 1919 and 1936. Pringle also exhibited with the Royal Canadian Academy in 1931. Other shows were held at Eatons Galleries, Morgans Galleries, Ogilvys and Johnson's Art Gallery. Pringle died in Smith's Falls at the home of her daughter.
