- Notice biographique
- Inuit artist Mina Emiqutailaq (Anowteelik/Emikotialuk/Emikotailak) is from Sanikiluaq, Belcher Islands. Emiqutailaq is renowned as a sculptor; however, little is known about her life. She is probably best known for her soapstone bird carvings and sea mammals such as walrus and seals. One of her delightful birds was included at the Marion Scott Gallery exhibition T"immiat: Inuit Sculptures of Birds" which included the tradition of bird sculpture in the context contemporary Inuit art. Some of the artist's work can be found at the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria and the Winnipeg Art Gallery. Emiqutailaq's sons, Josey, George and Simeonie Emiqutailaq, are contemporary artists.
