- Fletcher was the first woman daguerreotypist to work in Canada, and possibly in North America. From August until October of 1841 Fletcher, along with her husband John Fletcher, a phrenological lecturer, traveled through the Maritimes and into Montreal and Quebec City, where she advertised her work in local newspapers. Fletcher and her husband may have also worked in Charleston, South Carolina, which would make her the first woman to operate a commercial photography gallery in the state. The Fletchers were based in Cambridgeport, Massachusetts.
