- Alashua Aningmiuq (Alasuaq Aningmiuq, Alasuak Aningmiuq) and her family lived the traditional, nomadic life of the Inuit until around 1962 when they moved to Cape Dorset. There Aningmiuq and her husband Peter Aningmiuq became artistically involved with the West Baffin Eskimo Co-operative with Alashua Aningmiuq working as a graphic artist and her husband as a carver. Prints made from Aningmiuq's drawings were included in the Cape Dorset Print Collections of 1968 and 1969 and she is also known for her craft work. Her three sons, Jolly Aningmiuq, Salomonie Aningmiuq and Kavavau Aningmiuq, are all carvers as well. Aningmiuq's work has been exhibited across Canada as well as in the United States and her work is owned by several Canadian and American museums, including the Canadian Museum of Civilization.
