- Charbonneau initially explored painting while studying with well-known artist A. Pellan at the Ecole des beaux arts de Montreal before going to Paris (1957-59) to study. On her return she turned to printmaking when studying under printmaking master Dumouchel. She explored lithography, serigraphy and later woodblock. She was invited to participate in international printmaking biennials including Ljublijana 1963, 67), Cracovie and South America. She taught at the Ecole des beaux-art de Montreal for twenty years and also at UQAM. After meeting Japanese printmaker Yei Ruki, she studied woodblock printmaking in Japan with Yoshida in 1973. and Paris (1975). In 1995 she returned to painting. In 1978 the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts held a retrospective and in 2009 the BANQ also held an exhibition. Her work is included in the collections of the National Gallery of Canada, the Tate Museum, London and the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec
