Biography synopsis
Sybil Kennedy studied sculpture with Alexander Archipenko and William Brymner, as well as with John Sloan at the Art Student’s League in New York. She exhibited sporadically at the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts from 1953 to 1963, and at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts Spring Exhibitions from 1929 to 1961. She also exhibited work in New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto and London. She has work in the permanent collections of the National Gallery of Canada and the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. She won the Huntington Prize in 1941 from the National Association of Women Artists, and the Amelia Peabody Prize in 1948.
