- Biography synopsis
- In addition to working as a civil servant, E. Louise de Montigny studied drawing and painting at the Good Shepherd Convent in Montreal. From 1914 to 1917 she studied with W. Brymner. During these studies, she submitted pastel works to the Salon of the Art Association of Montreal in 1916. She later chose to study sculpture under Alfred Laliberte from 1919-1922 at the Conseil des Arts, Montreal and again returned to studies at the Ecole des Beaux arts de Montreal in 1924 and 1925. She submitted her sculptural work to the Salon of the Art Association of Montreal where she exhibited from 1921 to 1934; her work was also exhibited at the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts from 1920 to 1935. Her sculptures included portraits of politicians as well as religious works, and her paintings were mainly floral works.
