- Dinah Lauterman was born in 1900 in Montreal, Quebec. She began studies in drawing at the Art Association of Montreal School with Randolph Hewton and later added sculpture, which became her preferred medium, at the École des Beaux Arts with Maurice Felix, H. Albert Laliberté, Edwin Holgare, H. Charpentier and Charles Maillard. Lauterman's work was shown with the Art Association of Montreal in 1922, 1923, 1927, 1929, 1935 and 1939 and she became an associate of that group in 1929. She was also invited to exhibit in New York, and privately in Montreal. The Blackader-Lauterman Collection of Architecture and Art, a special collection in McGill's Redpath Library, was created in 1947 concurrently with an exhibition of her sculpture.
