Biography synopsis
Madame Gagné and her photographer husband, Edouard Gagne, ran a photographic studio on Rue St. Laurent in Montreal between 1886 and 1891 and may have found a niche market in producing photographic portraits for the area's Chinese community; Gagne was recognized for the quality of her portraits. Notably, the studio functioned for thirteen years. The McCord Museum in Montreal holds some of Gagné's work.
