- Biography synopsis
- Mallett was raised in Union Road, Prince Edward Island. When her father died in 1947, she moved to Charlottetown where she became the first woman professional photographer on the Island. To earn an income she took photographs of sports teams, graduations, and weddings, as well as portraits of the citizens of Charlottetown. Her interest, though lay in the landscape of the Island, which she photographed extensively. Mallett often hand-painted her photographs, adding colour to the images of the Island and its flowers. Some of these photographs of local flowers were included in a 1992 publication entitled "Wildflowers of Prince Edward Island."
