- Henriette Chenevert (nee Barrot) was educated at the Ecole des arts et metiers de Paris as an engineer in industrial design, immigrating to Canada upon her graduation in 1925. She was employed to do drafting by the architectural firm led by Raoul Chenevert, who she married in 1927. Among some of her major projects, she contributed to the restoration of the Notre-Dame-des-Victoires church in 1929, as well as the construction of a women's prison in 1931, later named Gomin House, and also the Post Office of the Basse-Ville in Quebec City from 1938 to 1939. She became one of the first woman architects in Quebec. When her husband fell ill in 1947, she oversaw all building sites until his death in 1951. This experience allowed her to be accepted as a member of the Order of Architecture in Quebec (OAQ) in 1952. She worked with her son who joined the architectural firm in the late 1950s to form the Chenevert and Chenevert firm. In addition to residential projects, one of her later major works was the expansion of the hospital Notre Dame de l'Enfant Jesus, a project involving close collaboration with the client. In 1963 she participated in the establishment of l'Union International des Femmes Architectes (UIFA) which included women from sixty-five countries and is still active today.
