- Biography synopsis
- Sister Marie-Anastasie (nee Laura Tourangeau), a member of the Ste. Croix community, studied at the École des Beaux-Arts de Montreal with Sylvia Daoust and Armand Filion, as well as with Louis Parent at the École du meuble, and printmaking with Albert Dumouchel at the Ecole des arts graphiques. In addition to working in the visual arts - painting, sculpture, stained-glass, and printmaking, she was involved in the literary arts, writing poetry and serving as an editor. Additionally, she was a teacher, gallery director and arts patron. She undertook a major sculptural project in 1952, producing a Stations of the Cross, considered audacious for its time, for the chapel at Collège Basile Moreau where she taught art. In 1958, her first exhibition was entitled "Lumière et prismes," and a few years later she participated in various group shows. In 2014, she presented her work in the exhibition "Trait d’esprit" held at the Oratory of Saint-Joseph. She founded and owned the small publishing house Edition du Grainier. Her print works, artists books and collaborative works are held at the Bibliotheque et archives nationales du Quebec and the Musee nationale des Beaux arts du Quebec.
