Biography synopsis
Panneton (nee de Cotret) studied painting and printmaking at the Technical School in Trois-Rivieres and with well-known artists Jordi Bonet, Leon Bellefleur, Pierre Daquin and Pauline Labrecque, as well as Geraldine Bourbeau. She also travelled to Paris where she studied at the Academie Julian, pursuing other informal education in Spain and North Africa. She began working in textiles later in her career. In addition to exhibiting in galleries in Trois Rivieres, including the Galerie d’art du Parc, she participated in the major group shows “Nouvelle tapisserie Quebecois” at the Musee d’art contemporain de Montreal in 1978 and the Quebec Tapestries at the Southern Alberta Art Gallery in Lethbridge in 1981. She taught at the Universite du Quebec a Trois Rivieres. Her work is held at the Musee nationale du Quebec as well as in numerous private and public collections in Canada.
