- Biography synopsis
- Daughter of lawyer and political figure Pierre-Louis Panet, Louise-Amélie Panet-Berczy studied at the Dames de la Congrégation and at various other schools in Montreal, among them that of Charlotte Allamand-Berczy. After marrying the painter William Bent Berczy, son of William Berczy, in 1819, Panet moved to Windsor, Ontario, and then to Toronto. She was considered a talented amateur artist. She later settled on the Sainte-Mélanie d'Ailleboust seigneury in 1819 where she held salons and kept company with the elite of literate circles.
