- The Library and Archives of the National Gallery of Canada houses one of the most extensive international collections of visual arts literature in Canada.
- Canadian Museum of History
- A collection of information on archaeology, anthropology, ethnology, folklore, Canadian social history, First Nations people, Canadian Native artists, and material history.
- Archives Canada: Canadian Archival Information Network
- Search archival holdings in over 800 repositories across Canada.
- Artexte Documentation Centre
- Covers artist files and other resources for the visual arts from 1965 to the present.
- McCord Museum Archives and Documentation Centre
- Provides researchers with a wide array of resources on various aspects of Canadian life, culture and society, including material culture, anthropology, the history of art and photography, social history, etc.
- Montreal Museum of Fine Arts Library
- The Library is not open to the public, but offers researchers a reference service. Requests must be sent in by mail, fax or e-mail. The Archives Department of the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts is opened to outside researchers by appointment.
- Musée d'art contemporain Media Centre
- In addition to a large collection of published sources on Canadian and Quebec visual artists, a large collection of artists files is available.
- Canadian Centre for Architecture Collection
- Researchers can consult (by appointment) the CCA's collection of primary sources, including prints, drawings, photographs, as well as secondary sources including books, periodicals, and artist files.
