About the Artist Files

The Documentation Centre currently houses artist files on over 750 women painters, sculptors, illustrators, designers, craftswomen and architects active in Canada and born before 1925 (1965 for architecture). Files contain material in both French and English, including articles and book chapters, photocopies of historical newspapers, exhibition catalogues, correspondence, images, interviews on tape, video recordings, ephemera, photographs. We actively solicit donations of scholarly materials. The Documentation Centre is accessible by appointment. We are located in the Concordia University Faculty of Fine Arts Slide Library, 1515 Ste Catherine St. West (EV 3.741)

We will copy and mail files to researchers outside Montreal. The service (up to 150 pages) is free for researchers affiliated with universities and museums. Otherwise, there is a cost of $12.50/hr plus postage and photocopying fees.
