Notice biographique
While a student at the French Catholic school Académie Marie-Rose from 1905-1913, Seiden was encouraged to pursue her artistic talents as a painter. Between 1913 and 1918 she studied at the Art Association of Montreal under William Brymner, Edmond Dyonnet and Maurice Cullen. In 1921 she spent a year in Paris, where she studied at the Academie Julien. Seiden returned to Paris in 1926, and married the Berlin-born painter and teacher Eric Goldberg in 1928; they settled in Montreal in 1935. Seiden’s preferred media as a painter were oil and watercolour, and her works generally included the human figure in portraits and nudes. During her career, Seiden exhibited with the Royal Canadian Academy, the Art Association of Montréal and the Beaver Hall Group of Painters. Her work was shown in the Canadian section of Fine Arts at the British Empire Exhibition in London (1924), the Special Exhibition of Canadian Art at the National Gallery of Canada (1926), and the Exposition d’art canadien at the Musée de Paume in Paris (1927).
